  • Grant applications are mandating evidence of strong cyber practises.
  • Insurance providers are asking for proof of cybersecurity controls.

Why choose CyberSmart Technologies?

Certified experts

We are certified cybersecurity experts with decades of industry experience who can deliver real and practicable guidance.
We’re also expert cyber-translators who know how to communicate in clear, business-friendly language.

We respect your time

We are a small business ourselves so we respect your time and don’t faff about. Larger providers often deploy a team of junior folks as a ‘show of strength’ – forgetting that more people just drains more of your precious time. With us, you’ll deal with a single seasoned professional from start to finish.

Approved Methodology

The EI guidance of the report is approved by the National Cyber Security Center. We closely follow the EI Consultants Report Template which provides suggested formats and covers fourteen different domains. We have delivered EI Cyber Reviews for businesses of all sizes, and helped our clients gain follow-on grant funding from the NCSC to deliver cyber security improvement projects.

Fast Turnaround

We typically deliver the final report within five business days of the last discovery interview. We have deep experience with this so we can deliver quickly and efficiently without haste, whilst maintaining very high delivery standards.

What is a Cyber Review?

The review is an analysis of your cyber security. It is performed by independent cyber security professionals and aligned to EI and NCSC standards.

We’ll deliver a detailed report on your cyber security, which prioritises key issues and provides specific, measurable actions that can be addressed in a six to twelve month timeframe.

CyberSmart Technologies has delivered a number of EI Cyber reviews for SMEs of all size. This is a fixed cost engagement of €3000 with 80% grant funding for EI clients.

Security Posture Assessment

We’ll perform discovery interviews with your staff covering the fourteen domains listed in the EI Consultants Report Template. Typically there are not more than three of your staff involved, keeping your cost of engagement low.

Risk Prioritisation

We’ll then perform a security posture evaluation aligned to the EI Cyber Review model — covering policies, controls, systems, and gaps. This will include clear, SME-friendly language and a breakdown of your top security risks and what matters most.

Practical Action Plan

The report includes a prioritised list of improvements that you should make, with approximate costs for each step. The report will favour actions that your team can implement without requiring external assistance. Your team can get started immediately on your improvement plan.

Review Call / Walkthrough

We’ll arrange a close-out call to walk through the report and ensure you understand the findings and recommended improvements. CyberSmart Technologies can also help you to follow-on work which requires external cyber security expertise.

The benefits to your business

Clear understanding of your security posture

We don’t deliver generic ‘shelf-ware’ documents. The reporte you’ll receive is tailored to your environment and gives you practical insights that you can action immediately. We highlight your strengths, but don’t shy aware from calling out your areas for improvement.

A prioritised risk list

You’ll receive an overall risk score and a list of remediation actions which are prioritised by risk. You can place your focus on what matters really matters, delivering improvements on a risk-informed basis instead of what looks impressive on paper. It is really useful to know what to spend, when to spend it and how each step will help your business. Each step we recommend is considered against SMEs constraints for time and budget.

Policy and procedure recommendations

We review the security policies and procedures you have right now. Some of our clients are starting from scratch and some are quite advanced having already achieved ISO 27001. Wherever you are on your journey, we’ll identify the best next steps for you. That might be establishing a basic documentation set for those starting out, or table-top exercises (TTX) to validate the Incident Response processes of our more advanced clients.

Confidence for audits, grants, and insurance

The report will be a great foundation to help plan applications for grants and insurances. The report is not an audit or compliance artefact, but it will help you plan your next steps, and prep your data for third party auditors. Customer are increasingly demanding your cyber health reports before establishing or renewing contracts.

Better internal awareness

Staff often leave the review with a better understanding of their role in the cyber security of your business. The report will highlight how they can help your business enhance its defences, and ultimately help to grow your business.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the assessment take?

Most reviews are completed within five days of the final discovery interview.

Do I need technical staff?

The process is designed for SMEs without in-house IT. We need to work with both management and technical staff, but may need to meet with your managed service provider.

What do I need to prepare?

Basic info about your systems and security processes. Our welcome pack will describe the people and prep required.

Is the review suitable for micro-businesses?

Yes. The EI Cyber Review is specifically designed to be SME and micro-business friendly.

Is the assessment aligned with EI Cyber Review guidance?

Yes — the structure and deliverables match EI’s Cyber Review framework.

Can you help us implement the recommendations?

Yes, implementation support is available as an optional follow-on service.

Is the report ‘just another sales pitch’?

In a word. No. EI have insisted that each consultant holds active industry accreditation and delivered clear expectations for the depth and quality of the report.

What if I don’t have a relationship with EI?

Firstly – you may be entitled to assistance from EI, so you should reach out them if you’re not sure. We are happy to deliver the Cyber Review for non-EI customers. It’s still a hugely valuable report at €3000 ex-VAT, but unfortunately you won’t be able to claim the 80% rebate from EI.

How to start delivering the identified actions?

Most of the actions can be delivered by your own team or partners without significant investment. Some actions may required more spend, but the prioritised recommendations will show you where you can begin. The report will intentionally focus on quick-wins and short to medium term improvements, rather than big-bang or investment heavy projects.

What about my own IT or Security Service provider?

Oh .. you’re afraid of doing ‘the dirt’ on your MSP. It’s not a problem – you don’t need to make any commitment to us. We think you’ll enjoy working with us, and we hope you’ll want to do more business with us. However, once the review is delivered, you’re under no obligation whatsoever to work with us again. We still appreciate your business though!

What about other government grants or funding?

Government bodies and EU grant bodies are constantly changing their offerings, so please get in touch with us to discuss. That being said, our EI cyber review clients have successfully applied for NCSC security improvements grant funding.
